I started running at 47 !

I’ve always been super active in sports! I played basketball all through high school, and right after that I dove headfirst into martial arts. I even moved to China for five years to train and immerse myself in it. In 2009, I opened my own martial arts school and ran it until 2014.

During those years, I also got into CrossFit, and in 2015 I decided to shift my focus completely. That’s when I opened my CrossFit gym, a box I proudly ran for 10 years. So yeah, I’d say I’m in pretty decent shape!

That said, I only ever ran during WODs, at least once a week, but never long distances. The most I’d do was 5 km, and that was rare.

Ever since I sold my box, I’ve had way more time to train… and that’s meant a lot more running. Today, I ran my longest distance ever: 12 km!

I know that’s nothing for some of you seasoned runners, but for me it’s a huge personal accomplishment.

I only started taking running seriously about 4–5 months ago. I began with 5 km twice a week and gradually built from there. Now I run at least twice a week, but most weeks I’m out there three times, doing at least 8 km each time.

My loose goal is to get to around 50 km per week eventually. I don’t have a specific race or timeline in mind, but running a marathon someday would be awesome, whether that’s in a year or five years. No pressure, no stress.

Right now, I’m just enjoying it: getting outside, clearing my head, and running because it feels good. And if one day I don’t feel like running anymore? That’s fine, I’ll just stop. Simple as that.

You can see my running log here and see the progress if any.
